North American Rescue - Combat Application Tourniquet (CAT)
Product Description
Tourniquets are fast, safe, and highly effective, ideal for field work and for providing first aid before transporting injured individuals to the hospital.
CAT® (Combat Application Tourniquet®), a life-saving device designed for single-handed use, has been patented and tested for 100% bleeding control by the US Army's Institute of Surgical Research. Tests confirmed that the CAT Tourniquet can completely stop blood flow in the arms and legs in cases of severe wounds that often involve severe bleeding. It was also recognized as the best tourniquet by The Journal of Trauma in 2008.
The heart of the CAT® Gen 7 tourniquet is the durable Windlass System, which works in conjunction with the tourniquet to apply consistent pressure around the arm or leg to control severe bleeding. The swivel is then locked with a clip and secured with Velcro straps to maintain constant pressure during transport.
The Combat Application Tourniquet® has been the official hemostatic device of the U.S. Army since 2005 and is an ANSI/ISEA Z308.1-2021 certified tactical medical device and is protected by U.S. Patents 7,842,067 and 7,892,253.
