It was also recognized as the best tourniquet by The Journal of Trauma in 2008.

The heart of the CAT® Gen 7 tourniquet is the durable Windlass System, which works in conjunction with the tourniquet to apply consistent pressure around the arm or leg to control severe bleeding. The swivel is then locked with a clip and secured with Velcro straps to maintain constant pressure during transport.
