QuikClot Combat Gauze with Z-fold Dressing
This marks a new era in tactical hemostatic gauze, designed for use with common wounds, such as cuts/scratches, to serious wounds such as gunshot wounds, stab wounds, or wounds that affect major blood vessels, where bleeding is urgently needed to save the life of the injured person.
The principle of hemostatic agents is to react with blood, causing it to coagulate and form a blood clot to reduce blood flow from the wound. This action is best when the agents are applied near a major blood vessel.
The hemostatic agent used in this gauze is called "Kaolin," a plant-derived substance that is highly safe and has not caused any allergic reactions. This is different from another hemostatic agent previously used, Chitosan, which is extracted from shrimp or crab shells, which may cause allergic reactions. It has been included as the sole hemostatic agent in the U.S. military's medical equipment, replacing older hemostatic powders that used " Zeolite," which caused side effects such as heat generation upon contact with the skin and a slower hemostatic time.
Z-Fold Dressing Technology
The Z-Fold technology used in Combat Gauze is based on the principle of folding gauze in an alternating Z-shape. This is designed for faster and easier handling. This is the result of extensive data collection on battlefield use. This technology allows rescue personnel to insert gauze into wounds more quickly and safely, effectively reducing the time required for gauze insertion.
QuikClot Combat Gauze Dressing has an additional function called "X-Ray Detectable" was originally designed to allow medical staff to detect gauze through X-Ray to prevent accidents from forgetting to remove the gauze before stitching the wound. And the package also has
The seals are designed to store equipment with special military-grade foil to help extend its lifespan and to be able to be used in different environments, in accordance with the requirements of the US Army for packing medical equipment on the battlefield.
**** The product has a best expected lifespan of 5 years. After this period, the usability will depend on the user's storage method. Staff should regularly inspect and adjust/replace. ****
