TacMed Solutions - QuikClot® Combat Gauze for Law Enforcement

High-performance 3x4 inch gauze coated with kaolin, a standardized and accepted hemostatic agent within the U.S. Military. QuickClot Combat Gauze is packaged in an easy-to-use vacuum-sealed bag and Z-folds for quick use. It also features a special X-ray-detectable material for easy location of the gauze for hemostatic wounds deep within the body.

This marks a new era in tactical hemostatic gauze, designed for use with common wounds such as cuts/scratches to serious wounds such as gunshot wounds, stab wounds, or wounds that affect major blood vessels and require immediate bleeding to save the life of the injured person.

The principle of hemostatic agents is to react with blood, causing it to coagulate and form a blood clot to reduce blood flow from the wound. This action is best when the agents are applied near a major blood vessel.

The hemostatic agent used in this gauze is called "Kaolin," a plant-based material that is highly safe and has not caused any allergic reactions. This is different from another hemostatic agent previously used, Chitosan, which is extracted from shrimp or crab shells, which may cause allergic reactions. It has been included as the only hemostatic equipment in the US military, replacing older hemostatic powders that used " Zeolite," which caused side effects such as heat generation upon contact with the skin and a slower bleeding time.
